We completed League, Championship and Shield fixtures at U12 A & B, U14, U16 and Intermediate level and all league matches at Junior.
B Championship runners up.Another first, we entered a team in the Community Games who finished runners up to Glenealy in the county final. Well done girls!
Reached semi-final in championship, well done to all.
ADULTS
In 2006 we entered a team in the Dublin League adding a new dimension to the adult game within the club. This provided us with 10 extra games. We are grateful to the Dublin County Board who afforded us this opportunity and all Dublin clubs we met. We had two team in the Clane sevens – enjoyed greatly.
As Wicklow County Board took a decision, which we strongly opposed, not to have any County teams this year, our players were denied the chance to represent their county, the highlight of any players career. Consequently we had no county players at any level in 2005, for the first time since Una Keddy set up the club 11 years ago. Some of our players are lucky enough to be playing at third level.
St. Brigid’s GNS, won the Cumann na mBunscol Primary School Blitz in the Autumn, and have qualified for the Indoor Camogie finals – Congratulations. Thanks to all teachers for their support. Orlaith Donnelly was the school Coach for 3rd – 6th class under the Club - School link programme. We provided 5 people to run a Camogie module in St. Brigid’s GNS activity day which introduced pupils from Junior Infants to Second Class to the game of Camogie. Thanks to everyone who contributed on that day.
Colaiste Chraobh Abhann
Colaiste Chraobh Abhann continues to play an important part in development of Camogie in Kilcoole. The school takes part in First Year Blitz’s and Junior League.
Colaiste Chraobh Abhann’s Sportshall continues to be popular and we currently cater for 130 players on Tuesday’s from 6 – 10p.m., aged 4 to 40 (and beyond…!)
A new initiative in recent weeks has been all weather play in the newCharlesland floodlit facilities. We intend developing this into an internal floodlit tournament for all age groups.
Our Annual outing to Croke Park took place in early September. 60 people went to the Camogie All-Ireland. A great day was had by all.
8 People qualified as referees and 5 people qualified as foundation level coaches including teachers from the local schools. We had 2 reps at the National Coaching Conference in Croke Park. One person attended a “Leadership for Youth Groups” course run by the Wicklow Rural Partnership. We also have 2 tutors in “Code of Ethics”Thanks to the many people who continued to develop and expand the club, by giving their time to coaching, administration, refereeing etc. Thanks to our supporters, parents and Lotto Ticket buyers, to the GAA Club executive for continued support.
All in all a very busy and enjoyable season for all involved in Camogie in Kilcoole.
